Huntersville-My beautiful wife Flo Hauck died June 29. Our son and I watched her leave us with the gentle care of Hospice. Her death was the result of a 10 year battle with cancer. AML, Lukemia, was the cause of death
She was born in November 1946 in Gary, IN to Donald and Harriet Stinson (both deceased) raised with two younger siblings Donn Stinson (deceased) and Lorraine Gilmore who survives. In 1964 they moved to Anaheim, CA and Flo went on to graduate from Marymount College (now Loyola Marymount) in Pacific Palisades. She was recruited by United Airlines to be a “stewardess” in the coming age of Jumbo Jet travel. She flew out of San Francisco for 21 years loving the job and being part of new generation of traveling Americans. This is where we met and later married and became parents of our son Mike through an adoption so perfect that it had to been from God’s hand.
My job transfer to Charlotte was the end of one career for Flo and the beginning of another. An opening at Mike’s school, St. Patrick Catholic Elementary, for a school receptionist/secretary was a second career that she loved each day and that lasted 17 years. Few people can ever say that.
Our Catholic faith was important. Luckily we became original members of the St.Mark Parish in Huntersville, a suburb north of Charlotte. Flo was involved there bringing her beautiful smile, incredible memory, and love for others.
A Mass celebrating my precious wife’s life will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church at 1:00 PM on July 11 following the long holiday. A reception will follow at the James Funeral Home, a short drive from the Church. Interment will be private at NorthLake Memorial Gardens.
Donations in Flo Hauck’s name may be made to St.Mark Catholic Church, or Hospice of Cabarrus County.
