Mt. Holly — Hilda Camacho, 76, went to meet her Creator, Monday, September 19, 2017 NC following a critical illness.
She leaves; her daughter, Ingrid Camacho and wife, Felicita Rosa; her daughter, Belkis Serrano and husband Jose Serrano; her daughter, Jenny Camacho; Her son, Rafael Camacho Jr. and wife Nelly Camacho, Her son Julio Camacho and wife Jessica Camacho, seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 7 surviving siblings and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rafael Camacho, whom passed away August 26, 2017.
Born and raised in Dominican Republic, the daughter of Maria and Angel Cedeño, she was a lifelong resident of Levitown, Puerto Rico and retired to Florida and Mt. Holly, NC.
In her early years, Hilda(“Mamin”) would work as retail manager. After graduating from high school, she met her husband, Rafael Camacho, at a school event and they were married in 1960 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Dominican Republic. In 1968, they decided to take their family to Puerto Rico in search for a better life where they lived until they retired to the US in 1995.
After moving to PR Mamin had the opportunity to work as a retail manager and eventually she trained to be an accountant until her retirement. She also trained as a computer programmer and worked with early computer systems like Cobol and Fortran. She not only took pride in her work, but truly relished the friends he made during her time in the work force.
Mamin had a passion for being a mother, raising a family, accounting and she was an avid fantasy jewelry collector for years. She enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with her family and making everyone laugh.
In keeping with the wishes of the family there will be no funeral services. Instead there will be a private Christian service for the immediate family at the chosen family church.
