Ella Marcelle Bolick Reid, of Huntersville, was born 19 July 1930, the second daughter of Ethel Estelle Shumaker and William Oscar Bolick. She was born in Iredell County. Marcelle attended Southside Baptist Church and graduated from Mooresville Hill School. She married Harold “Dick” Taylor Reid on June 17, 1950. They had four children, Jeffrey, Brent, Craig and Alicia. Marcelle and Dick were married twenty-two years before he died in 1972, leaving her to raise four children by herself. The family is sure she is now rejoicing in heaven with Dick.
Left to mourn her are her four children, Jeff Reid (Vickie), Brent Reid (Joette), Craig Reid (Wendy), Alicia Reid Brouillette (Tim), four grandchildren, Bethany Reid Welch, Nick Reid, Jacob Reid and Andy Brouillette, and three great-grandchildren, Hayden Welch, Hunter Welch and Braxton Reid. In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, she is preceded in death by her grandson Caleb Reid and Great-grandson Hudson Welch. Marcelle and her husband helped start Long Creek Baptist Church and she was an active and hardworking member. In later years she was a member of Huntersville First Baptist Church. In years past she played the piano for the church and sang in the choir. She retired from Ceco Corporation as a payroll clerk. She was Mimi to Hayden and Hunter and always had a special place in her heart for them.
